Klay Thompson Charity Toy Drive Gets Big Assist from uShip

Klay Thompson has never had an issue delivering at a distance. Until recently, that is.

The Golden State Warriors all-star guard is considered one of the NBA’s most deadly three-point shooters of all time, ranking No. 4 on NBA.com after just seven seasons in the league. He’s currently having the best season of his career.

But when his charitable organization – the Thompson Family Foundation – was faced with getting 1200 lbs of donated toys nearly 400 miles from Southern California to Oakland, it was a distance that required a little help – even by Klay’s standards.

That’s when the Foundation turned to uShip.

It listed three pallets of toys on uShip.com/freight, a single place online to get instant shipping rates from national and regional less-than-truckload carriers.

From the list of displayed providers, the Foundation selected UPS Freight to make the delivery on Dec. 12 to the Klay Thompson Charity Toy Drive being held at the Futures Elementary School gymnasium in Oakland.

uShip went above and beyond to make sure all the toys were delivered on time. The entire process was easy for me and my Foundation,” said Klay. “There’s nothing better than seeing the kids’ eyes light up when they receive gift, and uShip helped make that happen.”

The Klay Thompson Charity Toy Drive is the latest the many efforts Klay has supported over the years.

He recently donated $75,000 –  $1,000 for every point he scored during a three-game stint in October – to help victims of wildfires that ravaged parts of Northern California. His pledge spurred outside donations of over $400,000 between the public and sponsors.

Klay was also a finalist for the 2014-15 NBA Cares Community Service Award.
