UNDERSTANDING OPERATING AUTHORITY
A Motor Carrier or DOT Number are likely required for you to make deliveries
HAULING FOR HIRE ACROSS STATE LINES
Whether you’re new to logistics or a seasoned veteran, service providers hauling for hire and crossing state lines may need a Motor Carrier (MC) number, based on information provided by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
Operating illegally could result in shipments and equipment being impounded, hefty fines, payment forfeiture, and even possible arrest.
BIDDING AUTHORITY ON USHIP
On uShip, you can only bid on items for which you have the proper federal authority, licensing, and permits, according to our User Agreement.
Adding your operating authority, such as a Motor Carrier and/or Department of Transportation (DOT) number to your uShip profile is very important.
HOW SAFERWATCH MONITORING CAN WIN MORE BUSINESS
For carriers who have MC numbers with either common or contact authority, uShip works with SaferWatch and their insurance monitoring partner, Assure Assist, to ensure accurate authority and safety information is imported from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
Doing this makes your profile more attractive to shipping customers and gives you exclusive access to more shipments, including brokered loads and Ritchie Bros shipments in the U.S.
