I am primarily a riding instructor and trainer, but also a very experienced hauler, and occasionally I pick up or deliver a horse for a client (to/from point of purchase or sale, for breeding or training, erc.) When that is the case, I go on Uship to find shippers to fill out my load and cover expenses. I have a simple setup. I drive a Chevy Silverado V8 4WD and a three-horse Charmac oversize trailer with interior dividers(see pics). I am a capable winter driver; I have chains and know how to use them. I can load most any horse, even ones that haven't been in trailers before, but it might take an hour and I might send you away for a cup of coffee. :) I usually work alone, which is actually a plus because the horses get to rest every time I rest. On hauls longer than 12 hours I overnight and unload the horses, at an equine center, fairgrounds, or 'horse hotel.' I check the horses and offer water at every stop (gas/food/rest area).
