Moving America’s Motorcycles: The 5 Most Shipped Bikes

Every year thousands of Americans ship their motorcycles, whether it’s a Suzuki to Sturgis, a Yamaha to Omaha, a Harley cruiser going cross country, and everywhere in between. Wherever these two-wheelers are headed, motorcycle shipping trends shed light on American’s most beloved bikes.

As part of our 2018 trends report, America, We Ship, we carefully sorted through the 82,000+ shipments that were listed on uShip in 2017, categorized them, and identified some interesting trends. One of the most prevalent were the states that did the most shipping – whether those were vehicles, motorcycles, household goods or other items.

The top shipping states remained relatively consistent across all categories. Florida, Colorado and Nevada were the most popular states for shipping a motorcycle, which makes sense considering the scenic landscapes available in each of these unique locations. Not surprisingly, among intra-state motorcycle shipments, California leads the pack, meaning those from the Golden State are the most likely to ship their motorcycle within state lines.

Which motorcycles are on the move? Here are the top 5 from last year in uShip motorcycle shipping:

  1. Yamaha YZF-R1

    Yamaha YZF-R1
This iconic bike changed the face of Yamaha’s lineup. Through its 20 years of refinement, the R1 has remained a staple in the minds of speed enthusiasts.

  2. Yamaha YZF-R6

    Yamaha YZF-R2
A cousin of the R1, the R6 is regarded for its all-around solid performance and exceptional handling, although it’s a bit less powerful than the R1.

  3. Honda CB750F

    Yamaha YZF-R1
Up next, this Honda is regarded by many as the very first “superbike,” giving it recognition as – indisputably – one of the greatest motorcycles ever.

  4. Harley Davidson Sportster Iron 883

This classic is also a top-shipped motorcycle. One of the most popular of the brand’s Sportster series, it’s clear why this bike is so commonly shipped around the country.

  5. Suzuki GSK-R600

This relatively sensible bike is powerful but tame, pleasing both amateurs and gearheads.

As some of the most popular bikes around, it makes sense that these bikes top the motorcycle shipping scoreboard. With a taste for adventure, motorcycle enthusiasts are eager to have their wheels with them everywhere.
