It needs to be strapped with the front forks "slightly" compressed while using the handlebar grips where one holds onto it, as the handlebars themselves are rectangular in shape, and to attach straps to the front handlebars, the windshield would get damaged at the bottom portion because the straps can't go straight to the tiedown if it's strapped to the handlebars instead of the handgrips.
