Need to haul a 22 Catalina sailboat (with retractable keel) and it’s trailer on a flatbed between Ridge, NY (on Long Island) and Chesapeake City, MD. The overall length from the tongue to the back of the boat is 25ft. From the tongue to the back of the tires is 17ft, from there (the tires) to the back of the boat is 8ft (the boat hangs off of the back of the trailer); with boat AND trailer the overall height is about 9ft or less. (In the photo with people blocked out, the people are 5’8”and 5’9” for reference.). Weight with boat and trailer is about 3000lbs to 3,500lbs. We have a 250 pickup with hitch to back it up onto your flatbed.

Boat trailer not equipped with brakes ... towing vehicle in pix is a Lexus RX400H AWD hybrid which had no problem pulling this boat from OK to KY in good driving dry road conditions at posted hwy speeds. Personal trailers are not required to be registered in the state of Oklahoma so trailer is not tagged.

The length will be very close to 14', the width will be very close to 4'-7", the height will be very close to 2'-5". The boat will be shrink-wrapped for protection it really doesn't need to be put in a wood "crate". It could probably fit in an 8' truck bed with the tailgate down. The boat spec. says it is 4'-7" wide at the rails … but it is much narrower at the keel obviously … I'm not sure if boat should ship right side up or up side down … seems either way could work. It will need good foam? supports at various locations, padding, and tie downs. The value of the boat is about $15,000. John is my contact at the boat yard where this new row boat just got built.
