Hello uShippers! My name is Matt and I'm the founder & CEO of uShip. Back in 2001, my mother called to ask if I could help her ship an heirloom dresser from my grandmother's house in Columbus to her in Houston. She had no luck finding a freight or moving company that was able to ship it for less than $1,000. I did some research and was unable to do any better. Amazingly, it was going to be cheaper for me fly there and rent a truck to move the 1 piece. Of course, neither option was justifiable, so the heirloom ended up being sold in an estate sale - much to my mother's chagrin. A few months later, my wife and I were moving from Seattle to Austin, and I found myself standing in the back of a 20' rental truck with 15' of extra space. I said to myself, "I wonder how many trucks out there are driving all over the country with extra space like this?" I spent the next 2,400 mi. boring my wife to tears talking about creating an online shipping marketplace... and the rest is history!
