I'm a Hobby sailing enthusiast and sailing team coach. One of a group building one design fleets in the local sailing area. I race on several boats, coach and crew, provide volunteer boat services for local youth groups. I own and race my own boats and am leaning toward some limited cruising. I do not have towing vehicles and depend on transporters to move my boats. I am part of a growing network of associated fleet members comprising some 25-30 boats racing and cruising primarily in the NW. We are working on ressurrecting fleets of old family boats to help get new sailors involved in the sport and then helping them transition into larger and more competetive boats or extending their skills into other areas and sharing their new skills with ever broader circles of new sailors. This is growing a pool of talents that the local sailing community can tap into for teachers, coaches, racing crews and youth counsellors.
