What does it cost?
  • When booking a quote, you'll be given the option to buy full value coverage for your shipment.
  • Keep in mind that you will be responsible to pay a deductible based on the commodity being shipped:
    • $750 for all items valued at $15,000 and higher
    • $500 for cars, boats, motorcycles, household goods & personal effects, artwork & antiques, and "used" goods valued under $15,000
    • $250 for items listed under all other categories valued under $15,000
Who determines the valuation of the item(s)?
  • Should a claim be issued, the final valuation of the item is determined by the insurance adjuster. uShip strongly recommends you have ample documentation (appraisals, photos, receipts, bills of lading, etc.) to provide to the insurance company during the valuation process.
What is NOT covered?
There are some countries and territories where the policy does not apply. (Although listed below are the most prominent exclusions, it is important to note that the policy will provide the full scope of coverage and restrictions and is made available for your review.):
  • Location restrictions:
    • Items in transit in or through any of the following countries/territories: Afghanistan, Algeria, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo-Kinshasa, Cuba, Ethiopia, Gaza, Guinea, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Lebanon, Libya, Madagascar, Mexico, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Zimbabwe, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (which includes: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan)
  • Category restrictions – the following are not covered*:
    • Pets
    • Trailers
    • Food and agriculture products (including flowers, cotton, plants, fresh foods)
    • Passengers
    • Junk
    • Aircraft

  • Additional Exclusions – the following are not covered*:
    • Marring, chipping, scratching, denting and shortages (unless the entire shipment is not delivered) to owner packed household goods shipments
    • Marring, chipping, scratching, denting and cost of repainting for vehicles, motorcycles and boats not shipped in fully enclosed containers and/or trailers
    • Vehicles, RVs, or 5th wheels being operated under their own power OR being towed on their own wheels
    • Loss or damage to goods and/or equipment not manufacturer installed or permanently installed to a vehicle, motorcycle or boat

  • Valuation restrictions:
    • Cars & light trucks, motorcycles or boats in excess of $75,000 in value
    • Heavy equipment items in excess of $500,000 in value
    • Household goods and personal effects per any one customer of the assured in excess of $50,000 in value
    • Any one shipment of artwork or antiques regardless of quantity in excess of $25,000
    • Individual pieces of artwork or antique furniture included in a household goods or office conveyance are restricted at $5,000 per piece
    • Any one shipment of electronics (cellular phones, laptops, computers, etc.) in excess of $2,500 in value
    • Shipments on vessels, air or land conveyance for domestic shipments, and shipments transported via barge have special terms -  Learn more
  • Provider restrictions:
    • The insurance company reserves the right to exclude the insurance offering on a per service provider basis; not all service providers may be eligible to have this insurance offered with their quote.
How do I file a claim?
  • All claims must be filed within 7 days of delivery to the final destination. In order to file a claim you must provide the following:
    • Photos of the item(s) from before the shipment is picked up and photos of the damage
    • Copy of the Bill of Lading you receive from the service provider noting all damages
    • For household goods shipments only, an inventory of all items in the shipment along with the value of the items
    • Repair estimate (if available)
    • Appraisal of the item prior to shipment (if available)
  • To begin the claims process, go to Dashboard and click on the ‘File an Insurance Claim’ button on the shipment for which you need to file a claim.
