Having never before shipped a boat (this is our first) I was somewhat bewildered as to how to approach it. Quite candidly, I stumbled upon UShip and was pleasantly surprised as to how easy and straightforward their process was for bidding out my transporting needs to the great many transporters who specialize in shipping boats. Still, selecting among the many bidders (price is only one of the considerations) was a bit challenging as well, inasmuch as all of these bidders were total strangers to me. But what caught my eye was T2 Truck. I think it initially was the “personal concern” approach offered by Tanya from that organization that got my attention and ended up being my final choice. But here we are, a week or so later, with our 2011 Parker 2320 Sport cabin sitting near out pier, and we couldn’t be happier with our selection of boats or transporters. Tanya’s personal concern approach was more than just puffery. Her husband Tommy Smith hauled the boat, and his many years of over the road hauling with the big rigs really showed. There were a few small issues with the trailer coming up from Georgia to the Chesapeake Bay, but Tommy caught them and took care of them on his own dime. Moreover, since we were able to stay in contact with him so completely on the way up, that we felt the boat was being hauled by a family member. On top of everything else, with his experience in the transporting world, Tommy was able to give me a some great safety tips on dealing with the trailer being delivered as well. In short, while UShip is obviously a great way to transport boats across the country, this company T2 Truck will be my transporter from here on out. And since we’re now considering a permanent move to Florida, hopefully we’ll be putting T2 Trucking back to work for us again in the near future.
