Shipped a 1 bedroom apartment from TX to DC. The bid process was a bit frustrating as the price estimator tool said a 75% chance of success at $550, so that's what I did and the bids started coming in around $2200 (between $1k - 4k). after almost 2 weeks, we finally settled on AM Express who worked with us and we accepted a bid for $925. Apparently, you cannot rely too heavily on the price tool. Had the expectation been $2,000 to ship, I would have known a bid for $1500 was decent, but starting out at $550, then waiting and watching the deadline near was very nerve racking. Once they picked up, it was all delivered without any major problems. Everything arrived in good shape. The lack of communication was the biggest issue: they gave us a 24 hr pick up window, but instead of calling later to give us a more accurate time, they called when they got to the house and no one was home. Then, on delivery, the truck was delayed 24 hrs without any notice. I called around and they said its possible it broke down. The truck was supposed to arrive monday morning, but I didn't hear anything until that night when the driver called and said he'd be there the next morning. Based on other customer reviews, it seems like they usually keep in touch, but from what I understood, the main shipping coordinator was on vacation and the the first driver who picked-up and didn't call, no longer works there. The driver that dropped off and gave me a heads-up was very kind and helpful. I understand that things happen and sometimes people drop the ball. Overall, I would still recommend them. We had a sizable shipment including 8 boxes of glassware that was largely undamaged (one glass broke, but that's to be expected). Thanks AM EXpress.
