I'm a Canadian Artist and for the first time I had been asked by a gallery in Phoenix, AZ to ship 9 pieces of my bas-relief paintings to their gallery.
Great news, until I started investigating shipping options - what a nightmare! The prices were huge and the service unexceptional, I nearly gave up and almost called the gallery back to cancel, when I stumbled upon UShip.
Within minutes I had my listing up and "Live" and about an hour after that I already had two great bids.
After asking and answering a bunch of questions, I decided to go with Stephane of Tall Trees Logistics. What I liked about him right away were two things. First he is outstanding at communicating right away, and two, he was very understanding of my lack of experience and patiently walked me step by step through everything that I needed to do to make this happen, even recommending a great customs broker who was a dream to work with.
Well as the pick up date drew closer I realized that the size of crate that I would need was actually a little bit bigger and a whole lot heavier than I had first quoted in my listing. Horrified I emailed Stephane and explained my mistake offering to pay more, or even let them cancel if necessary - I would totally understand as it was my screw up. But, good guy that he is, he rolled with it and came back saying no problem, all was good and there would be no extra charge!
Then the day before pick up he called and we arranged our time -between 10am and 11:30am. Sure enough Stephane drives up at 10:30, but curiously in a small U-Haul truck. Jumping out he explained that the real truck was still picking up other deliveries up north and he was unsure if they'd get to me between the alloted time so he rented this small truck to come get my stuff & then he'd meet up with his truck later! I was stunned. Talk about service!
5 days & 3500kms later, I got an email from the gallery owner in Phoenix s saying all arrived in perfect condition.
I couldn't have asked for better!
