My partner and I were moving from Vancouver to Toronto for graduate school. We'd been living in Vancouver for six years. In that time, we'd managed to create for ourselves an expansive library and an otherwise comfortable little domestic space. We are quite attached to our belongings, so we began sourcing movers and cost estimates. Well, I very quickly became disenchanted, having read horror stories about inter-province moves that via mean spirited business maneuvers ended up costing 2-3 x the original quote. We had resigned ourselves to selling our furniture and sending our books and clothes in the post.
Then, I stumbled upon on the Uship website. I was immediately impressed with its extremely comprehensive and transparent network structure. I particularly like the website's option to aggregate completed moves that are similar to your own move profile. Through this mechanism, I found John Vanderzwaag (or sunshine64). John's profile on Uship was perfect: shining reviews and many completed matches made through the website. I requested that he bid on my move. He answered all my questions (and there were many) with patience, clarity, and charm. His bid was exactly what we had hoped to pay for our move. By working with John, we saved approximately $2000.00. More importantly, because we didn't have that money to spend, John made this move possible!
Upon accepting John's bid, we worked out the details by phone and by email. John was simply great to work with. In both instances, pick-up and delivery, he was on time, professional, friendly, and reassuring. He made the move feel easy and secure. His truck is fantastic. John loaded our boxes and furniture such that everything was completely immobile. His philosophy: If it doesn't move, it doesn't break.
Our belongings were delivered on time and untouched. John is patient, hard-working, and more generally, generous in time and spirit.
I cannot recommend enough John and Uship!
