Good experience overall. A little damage on piano in the form of several nicks. One broken table leg (I had some other pieces of furniture moved as well), but I trust Steve will take care of this--the delivery took place only yesterday, so there hasn't been time to deal with yet. Steve has been very professional about addressing the broken table leg over the phone with me, so I have no doubt we will get it repaired properly.
Steve was great about keeping in touch with pick up and delivery times--his crew was working around winter storms. The crew that picked up my piano and other items was the same one that delivered it, so they knew what they were handling and were it was on the truck. They were courteous and efficient with my parents on the pick up end and also with me on the delivery side. Since the baby grand piano was going up a flight of stairs to the second floor, Steve took care of arranging for a couple of local movers to meet his crew for some extra manpower to move 700 lb. of piano. The moving team also seemed experienced with moving pianos.
Steve also offered what I consider a very fair price. I had calculated the cost of renting a small truck and getting movers on either end, from St. Louis to Houston, and I believe that I got a very reasonable offer for quality service.
UShip is easy to use and effective. A great site. Their fee was a little steep, at about 13% of the cost of the move, but they do provide a forum that I would not have had access to otherwise and my total cost was still reasonable considering the alternatives, i.e., doing it myself, spending a lot of time calling movers, etc.
