I had a couch that I wanted shipped from PA to DC, which was less than 200 miles. I tried to come up with ways to get the couch to DC and thought about renting a truck or van. Just to rent the vehicle was not cheap and there still was the issue of actually moving the couch. I live by myself and didn't know how to get extra help. Also, didn't think I could call a moving company to move just one couch. So, I did an internet search on shipping options and found uShip. I liked the idea of adding my one couch onto another delivery that was in the same area, a sort of win-win situation. I figured that I'd give it a try. Honestly, I didn't think I would find anyone going to the same locations. I got a couple bids that were fairly high and unfortunately got some fairly rude emails from one company belittling my base price (of course I didn't work with this company). But I got an email and bid from another company that said they were going to be doing a shipment very close to my locations and were willing to do the move in 3 days. This company seemed reasonable and have very good feedback. Though, I was a little hesitant because I would still be trusting someone to do something just on their word. I also didn't see how uShip had anyway of keeping the companies legitimate. I spoke to the guy on the phone and everything seemed fine, so I figured I'd try. He was wonderful. He arrived at both locations exactly on time. He had help delivering it so I didn't have to worry about moving it myself. BTW, he picked up the couch on a Sunday night and delivered on Mon. morning.
I will keep uShip in mind if I have other shipments, though I still will be cautious with uShip if I use a different company. I will definitely try to use the company that did the move again.
