For the last 8 years I have had half of a bedroom suite in my basement. When my daughter lived in NYC she could only use two pieces of the campaign furniture she had as her bedroom suite at home. When she married and moved to Pittsburgh, the furniture shipped from NYC, but no stops were made in Poughkeepsie NY to get the rest of the furniture. So, each time she visited, I pointed out the furniture and she said - I really want this. But she always flew home. So the furniture remained here. Whenever I got really bugged by the full basement, and called local long distance moving companies, no one was interested. The attitude was pretty much, "lady don't bother us." And the price was exhorbitant. Then, I read about uship in an article by an antiques dealer who had great things to say about firms who would ship partial loads. I was somewhat skeptical, but I tried it out, by the end of the 1st day there were 8 bids. Many looked like people I would like to do business with, but often they needed help in unloading. With my daughter 7 months preganant and my son-in-law with a bad back, no way they could help. So I needed a firm to bid a reasonalbe price and to have the ability to lift the furniture without help. Alb Transportation took such good care of the furniture and had it from my home to her home within the day...in perfect condition, with accurate and courteous communication every step of the way. What a lovely experience.
