I found Uship online and thought it was a great idea! People post what they need shipped and get bids from different companies. My first experience with Uship was a very, shall we say, interesting, one, with a positive outcome in the end. It all started when I found some furniture on Craigslist I wanted to buy. The furniture was in San Francisco and I am in Portland. I posted the shipment on Uship, and received a bid at my target price from Mountaintransport, which I accepted. Mike was quick to communicate with me to arrange pickup with my seller, who was in San Francisco. The day he was scheduled to pick up, my seller got cold feet and refused to allow pickup until the money order I had sent for payment to him "cleared" (never mind that money orders are the same as cash and don't take days to clear!). Anyway, Mike retracted his bid and a few days later I set out to find another shipper. I found Paul Goldsmith and arranged a pickup time. Paul's driver showed up for the pickup but was unable to fit the 2 nightstands in his vehicle (a car), so that match was retracted as well. By this time I was past being frustrated, but I was out several hundred dollars for the nightstands if I didn't find someone to ship them for me, so I tried Uship again (3rd time!) This time I got a bid from "Best Deal Moving" and they had excellent feedback (at the time) so I accepted the bid. This company had extremely poor communication, and the driver missed one scheduled pickup time after another until he finally backed out of the transaction. I had no where to turn and had only a few days left (before my seller was going to dispose of my furniture!) so I contacted Mountain Transport again to see if he could help. Mike picked up and delivered exactly on the days he said he would, and had excellent communication. After 4 tries with Uship, finally I have my 2 nightstands. Whew! I will probably use Uship again but will be VERY careful in choosing my provider, with Mike at Mountain Transport being my first choice.
