One of my colts, a three year old Thoroughbred, fractured his cannon bone during a race at the Fairgrounds in New Orleans. Since he would require an extensive layup, I needed him shipped back to my farm in KY. While my trainer could have arranged that shipment, I learned that USHIP can assist in keeping costs down while never sacrificing quality. It proved to be true. Since I could not predict when the colt could physically handle the long drive, my bid request was rather broad. Nonetheless, I had numerous competitive bids and was able to select a shipper that was available when the horse was. The experience from online registry, to bid request, to notification of bids, to selection of carrier, to shipment and final delivery was a first class experience. Keith and Corny Creek called me in advance to determine pickup site/location and worked with my trainer to ensure my colt was ready. He called me later with his travel plans and times and for delivery location. He arrived ahead of his schedule and we quickly offloaded the colt into a stall. I paid about 75% of normal shipping costs and will use uShip again to move horses to training or racing.
