I found a great deal on a Kawai GS-30 down in Miami, Florida via eBay. Unfortunately, I live in New York. I thought I couldn't even dream of purchasing a piano at this distance until I found uShip.com.
uShip was just what I needed -- a large directory of shippers willing to move and tailor to one's every need. My first booking was a failure (the payment failed to clear to the seller on time, and the shipper could not pick up the piano before his departure from Miami). But no matter -- I simply called the shipper up and asked to retract a bid; the process was painless and extremely easy.
The second bid was a success. I was able to find a mover (Myers Moving) to move the piano from its Miami home to New York at a fabulous price (MUCH less than what was quoted to be from "big" companies). The communication was excellent, packaging was top notch. The only downside was that when the piano was delivered to me, I had to find a few guys to help move the piano into my home -- there was only one person (the driver). Luckily, I found some workers to help with this task.
As of now, the piano is in my living room. I got it for a fabulous price -- I received a deal on the piano itself, and on the shipping costs via uShip.com! Technology and the internet is simply amazing! Myers Moving also was awesome for providing me with the moving service. This concludes my uShip experience!
