I wrestled with how to ship our boat and trailer out to California. My son recommended uShip and after looking over the site carefully, I listed our trip requirement from Long Island NY to Long Beach CA. Immediately bids started to be placed and I saw in real time the bidding prices going down as more were placed. Also, I didn't realize there are so many people willing to drive the boat out in tow behind their vehicle. We had been looking into Pods to ship other items when, while looking through the bidding shippers bios, I noticed that Mr. Wingate tows behind a box truck. When I asked the question "can we put some bulk items in the truck" and receiving a positive reply, the deal was sealed, and bid accepted. What a great service. My wife was skeptical about giving our possessions and money to a stranger, but with the apparent professionalism of the uShip website and the positive feedbacks, I assured her (on no basis) that this must be similar to eBay and should be no problem. Richard Wingate is an accommodating service provider and we arranged to have the shipment picked up. Unfortunately, Richard found out about NYC traffic going to Long Island the hard way, but arrived at our home pleasant and ready to load and go. I guided him into and out of our neighborhood because GPS isn't great in our 1928 beach community, all the streets going in all directions and jammed into a small area. When Richard left it was dark and as I watched him continue on his journey and as his tail lights disappear into the night, I wondered if this would be the last time we saw our boat. The next day we had a medical appoint in NYC and were unavailable, but the following day Richard called and gave his position and approximate ETA in CA. Two more calls updating us and Richard arrived at our son's home in Long Beach CA. Unbelievable, it really did happen! My youngest son rode with Richard to San Clemente to drop off the bulk items, we paid the balance, thanked him and plan to use him again.
