I was shipping a 7ft tall, 4 ft wide, 700lbs fridge from Raleigh, NC to Buffalo, NY. UShip site was new to me, well designed. However the communication with the shippers is poor. Many don't respond well to communication and don't answer specific questions. You have to find the right shipper. The UShip system still makes it combersome to communicate becuase all you conversation are through messages, and some shippers are poor communicators through this method. It would be nice to speak to them or ensure they answer your quesions. Also I would like to have freeform text fields for describing why I am rejecting a bid, otherwise shippers won't know details behind your rejection, only a high level one or two word description.
As for my shipment, I was very worried, as a new user, daddyscott was a new provider. He was not the cheapest, but worth the extra money, other bids were very terse. Scott did a great job in communicating with me and making me feel comfortable. I live in Canada, we met me in Buffalo. We exchanged cargo and payment. He and his wife waited for me..I was late. They didn't even mention it or ask for any extra payment. They help me load my truck and were very friendly and professional. I HIGHLY recommend them.
I would use UShip again, but the system was very painful, I thought UShip did a good job but more work is required. I could have used FedEx for about the same money, but the UShip offers some more flexibility where FedEx would not accomodate, so there is an advantage to using UShip in that regard. I am glad I now have an option.
