I had been meaning to empty out my storage unit in New Orleans for literally years. I don't make a lot of money, so the monthly bill was a bit much and I was trying to think of a way I could get my goods to my current home without renting a truck or paying an expensive moving service, options I had priced out again and again at over $1500. I found out about UShip.com and began with a posting for just one special table I had in storage. I got a few good bids, but was not ready to finalize anything. Then, about a year later I said "What the heck" and put up a listing for my whole storage unit (albiet a pretty small unit) to be shipped from New Orleans to New York City. If I could get my things taken care of for a price I could afford, I would be very happy and be able to take care of an impending chore and expense that had been weighing on me for over 5 years. Well, as it turns out, I found a very good shipper who shared his truck space among clients like me and made mass trips over long distances for great rates. I was not sure at first if I could trust a company I did not hear of sight unseen, but after looking at their plentiful feedback, almost all of it positive, I thought they must be doing something right. So, I booked a cheap flight down to New Orleans so I could pare down the items to be shipped and make sure everything was packed properly and oversee the shipping. The gentlemen met me at my storage unit, loaded up my section of their truck, and off they went. I returned home and they met me a day later at my doorstep with my shipment. They made it possible for me to get this job done. UShip made it possible by providing a great marketplace for small businesses and individuals with special shipping needs and uncommon budgets, like myself. There are a few things I would have done differently, if I do it again, but all in all it worked out splendidly.
