After buying a 1974 Contessa 26 along with her 1978 Trail Right dual axel trailer, I needed to get her shipped to her future home port, Beaufort,SC. I broke all the rules but came out lucky: I did not survey, or have a professional survey done, either the boat or trailer. Fortunately, all the players, previous owner, transporter, and uship helped me out. Information flow from everyone made it possible. On the down side, the initial transporter had to decline his winning bid due to the death of a family member - which I considered reasonable, as I believe did uship. The second transporter came through with the goods. We even had a lucky chance encounter on I-95, as we met at a rest stop. I followed boat and trailer into the marina, which facilitated off loading and getting the transporter on the road again. Within days she was resting easy in her slip, and I was on my way home to Western NC.
