This was my first experience of having to move a tractor long distance (220 mi is long distance to me).I had great worries about how to find a hauler at a reasonible price and who could handle the awkwardness of a tractor with midmount side mower attached. I was led to the uship site through the John Deere website. With great nerviousness I started the process, and overnight I had selected the hauler who seemed most able to handle my situation. Within 3 hours of my acceptance he had the tractor loaded and was ready to head north. We did have trouble getting it to start for unloading, but we worked well together troubleshooting and trying things until we got it to go. I offered extra compensation for the time, but he refused, saying it just went with hauling things that had to move under their own power.
The uship question and answer helped me pick the right hauler! I did not choose the lowest bidder because I thought getting the best match for the job at hand was highly important.
I was right, he worked out well.
