For years I have looked through pages and pages of eBay listings for antique gas stoves. I live in NC and all the best stoves seem to be in California. Usually when I would seriously consider purchasing a particular stove on the West Coast, the problem of crating and shipping would rear its ugly head. If I could find a shipper willing to work with me, the price was exorbitant. So I shelved the idea for a couple of years. About a month ago, I saw an eBay listing for the perfect antique stove--6 burner, 2 oven, O'Keefe and Merritt--but it was in California. The thought of arranging shipping almost made me not even pursue bidding. Serendipitously, as I was looking up the weight of an O'Keefe and Merritt stove, I saw an internet ad for uShip. When I clicked on it and read their services, I thought HOW SMART! And as I registered for bids for my shipping needs, I thought, HOW EASY!! It really was effortless, and I got a more than reasonable offer that I camped on and followed through with. There was never a moment of worry or headache throughout the entire process. Everyone that I spoke to, whether it was someone at the Package Store, or the dispatcher at the trucking firm, or the truck driver himself, all were very nice and accommodating. I have read horror stories on-line about shipping large antique appliances and finding them in ruins after careless packing or crating. That was NOT my experience at all. The stove was very protected in layers of bubble wrap, cardboard, and shrink wrap. It was more than adequate! Thank you, uShip, for your excellent website and, Package Store, for unsurpassed service and friendly professional manner.
