I needed to ship a boat from my friend in Indiana to my brother-in-law in Utah... however it's not that simple. I live in California and was hoping that I could get the boat shipped without ever being present at the pick-up or delivery. Furthermore, a trailer plate was required because the boat trailer was in such bad condition. A friend recommended uShip and so I wrote up a shipment and listed it, not quite sure what to expect.
As it turned out, things couldn't have gone better. The listing attracted a fair amount of activity and ultimately I accepted a bid from Scarecrow Auto. Working with the folks there we were able to schedule a pick-up day, arrange for payment, and then accept delivery.
The great thing is that I was able to coordinate all of this in just a matter of days with a computer and a phone. A friend in Indiana ensured that the boat was loaded and ready for transportation, and my brother-in-law met the delivery in Utah. Thanks to uShip for helping me advertise the shipment and thanks to the folks at Scarecrow Auto who handled a somewhat convoluted shipment to perfection - despite it being their first time shipping a boat.
