I purchased an 8 month old, NASDHA (North American Spotted Draft Horse Association) registered filly in January 2009. The sellers gave me 30 days to arrange for transport or they would start charging me board. I placed an ad on U-Ship to have her transported from Meridian, ID to Monroe, WA. I also contacted 3 other horse transporters that I had used previously, but they were unavailable. I received a few questions about my U-Ship ad and even a few bids. Some of the bids were kind of high, so I modified my ad to state that I was willing to pay $400 MAXIMUM to have my filly transported. I was nearly ready to give up and just pick her up myself when I was contacted by Mike and Zelda of M&Z Transport. They seemed very nice. I checked their feedback and noted that they had previously had successful transports and nobody had a negative thing to say about them. The only snag seemed to be that they wouldn't be able to pick up the filly until almost 2 weeks after my 30 day grace period had expired. I contacted them and asked if they could squeeze her in sooner and to my surprise and delight, they could do it! They picked her up one day after my 30 days expired, but the sellers were gracious enough to not charge me board for the extra day. Mike and Zelda took pictures of my filly before they loaded her into the trailer and called me several times during their trip. They had another horse to deliver before they got to me and kept my baby girl with them over night. They reported everything that I would have asked about on her trip. They reported that she seemed happy and was very friendly; that she loaded like a dream; that she was eating, drinking and doing everything that a young horse should.
Overall, using U-Ship was an excellent choice. I saved $60 over the previous, lowest bid. I met some wonderful, caring people that did an excellent job of making my filly's trip comfortable and keeping me informed so I wouldn't worry. I would surely do this again!
