We import dragon boats from China. The sport of dragon boat racing is just catching on in the USA and the demand for boats is high. They are about four feet wide, 41 feet long and two feet deep. They don't weigh much, just 700 pounds each, but they are fragile and delicate and require extra care.
They are not something that you can really ship via FedEx, it takes someone who has experience shipping odd items. We first found U-ship by accident and what a blessing it has been. We now ship all of our boats using U-ship and have not yet been disappointed. Make sure you do your research and check out the company with the DOT and verify that they are who they say they are. Most of the companies using U-ship are great to work with. One nice thing is the people that contact you that aren't nice - you don't have to hire. Unless you are really pressed for time, or have a very unique situation, don't take the first bid. Give it some time and wait for the drivers to start bidding. It usually occurs close to the delivery date. You want the load booked as soon as possible, but there may be a driver who really needs a load at the last minute who will make you a good deal.
I know I'll keep using U-ship!
