For Christmas, we bought a kitschy chair upholstered with kittens and yarn for my sister-in-law who lives all the way across the country, over 20 hours away if traveling by car. She and my brother came to town for Christmas and we presented the gift. It was love at first sight between cat lover and the gaudy cat chair. After Christmas, we went to a local shipping store to send the chair out to its new home. But the price tag was NOT "purr-ty". They were going to charge us almost double what we paid for the chair...and the chair was not cheap. I high-tailed it out of there determined to find another solution. They told me I would be back, that I wouldn't be able to find a cheaper price anywhere. I checked around and started to lose hope. I considered buying a plane ticket for my mother and having her take the chair as checked baggage. But still, I would have to pay for packaging. And no movers or stores around town seemed to have any old boxes laying around. This was going to add up. I thought about tucking my tail between my legs and crawling back to the shipper store and paying them the insane amount just to get the chair out of my hands. But then I found Uship. I put a request out there and had several bids that were way too expensive. Then a couple that were more in my range. I chatted back and forth with two service providers and finally settled on one who would be going through my sister-in-law's city on the way back from a drop-off in LA. And it was the perfect price...only 1/2 of what I paid for the chair rather than double. I could handle that. The provider coordinated a time to pick up my item and drove through a snowstorm to get here. He kept it safe on the journey out west and then delivered it right on time to a very smiley cat lover. I don't think we'll be buying any more cat chairs, but if and when we ever have anything special that needs to hitch a ride somewhere, I would definitely use Uship as well as this particular provider.
