I needed to ship a very expensive show pony carriage (from Florida) that I had sold to a buyer in Indiana. It needed TLC so that it would not be scratched or damaged en route. I needed to make sure it was shipped inside a vehicle, handled fairly carefully and received in a reasonable amount of time, since the buyer had already paid me. I had broken it into two (large) pieces for shipping. I had a little flexibility on the pickup and delivery days and times.
I received a few bids immediately upon listing my shipment. The bidders answered all of my questions very promptly. I read the reviews and based on the answers to my questions and on their reviews, I chose a shipper.
I read some not-so-perfect reviews on my shipper that stated they were not always "on-time" and sometimes "hard-to-reach." I also read that they had always delivered their shipments in very good condition and that their drivers were always very nice, polite and reasonable to get along with most of the time.
I chose them because they could transport my cart inside a vehicle, because they were able to pick up almost immediately and because the reviews told me that everything WAS always delivered and in good condition.
The reviews were absolutely on-the-mark, so I wasn't too surprised that my shipper was a day late picking up, nor that they had trouble on the way.
The drivers were very careful how they handled my cart (without my asking them to be) and how they packed it in the nose of the (horse) trailer. The cart got there in excellent condition. My buyer was happy, so I was happy and that's all that counts really.
I would use them again for freight with a flexible timeline. I don't believe I would use them for live animals.
I would definately use UShip again. It is a great way to save money and overall my experiences have been excellent.
