We just moved from Albuquerque to Washington DC, and needed our household goods delivered. They were stored in two storage units, that after reorganizing, all fit in one unit... a 10x29 foot unit. We placed our order on uShip, and thought we had a good estimate of our stuff, but the uShip tools don't leave any room to add additional info.
***WARNING*** Use an exact count of what you have, you need to count each and every box.
I flew back to get the shipment loaded, but our shipper could not pick up due to the prior load being undelivered. We rescheduled and I gave him the keys to the storage unit.
As it got close to the shipment date... I could not get a hold of the shipper by phone, and he was not responding to email. Finally, he called and said everything was good for pickup.
He was a day late, so he paid the extra storage unit fees, and loaded up. He still would not respond to phone or email. Apparently, he and his partner swapped loads, and the partner wanted additional cash due to the heavy load and stated that the estimate was low. He also stated that the cashiers check that the original partner was OK with, would not work... he wanted cash only.
The delivery was good. All the items seem to be in good shape. No obvious damage, except the loss of one roller wheel on a chair.
We paid cash after the delivery for what the contract stated, plus we paid a couple hundred extra for being overweight/over estimate. I was concerned that he would not deliver if I did not agree to some addition. However, they thought they would get extra due to email stating a different price than what the contract stated. *** Careful ***
Overall, I gave positive feedback... but you need to be careful.
