I live in an alcove studio and was moving to Princeton, New Jersey. Judging by my apartment (which is quite bare) I hired a mover and indicated that I don't have much, bed, dresser and 25 standard moving boxes. Well, after packing, it turned out to be 28 boxes plus bike, tv, chair, lamps, vacuum, ... all the little things that turn a small move to a medium size move. The movers I hired quoted me based on a small move but after seeing what I had to move, knew it was a medium size move. I was waiting for them to say they need to charge me more. They didn't. They were not angry or resentful at all. They did the job very professionally and in the end I gave them an extra money to cover the additional items. You just don't meet people - let alone movers - this nice.
