Dragon Boating is an Asian sport that is just becoming popular in the USA. The boats are either 30 or 40 feet long and about 4 feet wide in the center. They are not heavy, less than 700 pounds each, but they are delicate and require careful handling. Our company has just started importing these boats in from China and we were using a shipping company that a friend who sells kayaks and rowing shells was using. Unfortunately they could not keep to a schedule, were constantly breaking down and lacked the sense of urgency we wanted. As a young and growing business it is important for us to be able to count on our shipping companies so that our clients are happy and we were not getting that from them. They left us high and dry on a cross country delivery that was due April 1st. We were scrambling to find someone to haul the boats when I found uShip.com. I thought we might as well give it a try, at this point we are pretty much screwed anyway so we really have not much to lose.
I was pleasantly surprised when the bids started rolling in. I found the service easy to use. We declined a few bids for price and a few because they couldn't guarantee our deadline and we ended up taking the second lowest bid. We did all of the homework on them, checking DOT and looked at their feedback before accepting the bid. We didn't save any money on this, in fact it ended up costing us $1400 more than our original quote, but we are very satisfied that the extra money was well spent. Our boats arrived one day ahead of schedule (and I know the driver could have stopped at his home which was about 2 hours off the route) and in great condition. We'll use uShip again and would recommend them to anyone. You can see pictures of dragon boats at our website http://www.usadragonboating.com
