I needed to get a washer and dryer to my tenants in a neighborhing state, so I used UShip for the first time. Since I am single and female, I was wary about providing my name, address, phone number, etc. to someone I didn't know, not to mention entrusting them with my items and a check for shipping (they could make off with everything and I would have little to no legal recourse). I did receive a number of bids from carriers who were not registered online with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Admin (FMCSA), and who were rather pushy (giving me just an hour or two to accept their bids). I waited until I received a bid from someone I could verify at the FMCSA website. I checked the status of his license, insurance, and driving record, worked out a delivery schedule, then accepted the bid. This carrier provided the service we agreed to and did so within the time frame we scheduled. According to my tenants, the washer and dryer arrived in good condition.
