A dear friend of fine cut down a walnut tree almost 30 years ago and saved the wood to one day build something. Unfortunately, he passed away last year, with the wood untouched. His wife gave it to me and encouraged me to put it to good use. I made a queen sized bed for my daughter who lives over 1000 miles away. Making the bed was a joy - thinking of my daughter and remembering my dear friend. When I finished I stood back to admire it and thought "how in the world am I going to get that down to Los Angeles?" I explored many shipping options and all were very expensive and onerous (I would have to build a container, for instance). Finally my Google search directed me to uSHIP and ..... problem solved. The bidding process was efficient. The billing a breeze. The pick up and drop off were prompt, on schedule, pleasant, easy as could be. The service provider was wonderful to work with and he even appreciated the sentimental value of the bed and expressed a commitment (no doubt expressed to all his clients) to its respect, care and safety. My daughter is sleeping well and I am pleased to know that I have contributed to the legacy of my friend and "tree cutter".
