Unless you ship everyday or several times a month or even a year you most likely do not know the people you are contacting and attempting to do business with. As in my case I have only been able to do business in my local area because I have not always had the best experiances when trusting a stranger to fulfill their part of a particular deal. These trust issues caused me to need to be able to pickup the items myself and to pay for them at that time.
Being from the plains(midwest to us)in Nebrasksa we are from a smaller population area and often can not find the items we need or desire. I reached out to UShip recently to help with a purchase of a unique motorcycle that was several states away in South Carolina. Now I have flown to pick up cars in the past but this particular pickup had me scratching my fairly hairless scalp.
With some trepidation I decided to post the shipment on uship. I did not receive much for offers initially until I did a search for shippers in the SC area and ask them if they wanted to bid on my shipment. Low and behold Don Jensen of DMtrucking offered my prize a ride and at a very competitive rate. Since he was from SC, he was able to offer the pickup and since I had no timeline issues it was a match made in, well, Uship of course.
I was able to check up on Dons performance with the Uship feedback system and when I called him and we talked about my shipment he made me feel very at ease. I went ahead with the booking and waited for him to initiate the pickup. Even though he was no where near being able to pick up soon due to being in another area of the country, he called me several times to let me know when he would be back in SC and be able to pick up the bike.
Once he called to say he had the bike he called to give his itinerary. He called twice in route and the bike was delivered in under a week and in pristine condition.
Needless to say my trust issues don't cause me problems when I want to ship something.
