"Shipping a large car part like a bare frame."
shipping from Batesville, Arkansas Glastonbury, Connecticut for $450.00
I would like to thank uship. My whim of a purchase was the easiest part. I bought a bare car frame for a very cheap price of $66. This part is very rare in NE as rust is a problem. But the real problem! It was 1400 miles away. I spent the following weeks trying to get it shipped from Arkansas to Connecticut. I recieved prices from $1435 to $2396 and that was if the represetative of the company even called me back.(Most didn't)I tried freight and even household moving companies hoping they could somehow fit it in. After months ( I bought on april 23rd) I started to plan a trip south. I thought of driving down and calculated the cost. I then checked air fares and truck rentals. This piece is 15 feet long. I soon relized it was going to cost me alot. I found flying and truck rental was going to be the cheapest and fastest. Mind you I still had to take time off to do this 1400 mile drive of 2 days at least and sleeping in the truck in unknown area to save money. Still it would be around $1000. I gave a last internet search and found USHIP and figured what the heck and made a listing. Week one no response. When the listing expired I thought o well I tried but decided to relist. The difference was I read the suggestion of add a photo and did it in my own way (I didn't have a photo) I listed a web address That had one that was identical to mine. The next day my listing had a bid. $450 from OLNEYAUTOSALES. This was less than the truck rental itself. Yes a picture is worth a thousand words and to me a thousand dollars. The savings was big time. I emailed some questions and sealed the deal. I would have my frame in a week. On Nov 15th Glenn arrived at my door. It was almost 7 months after my whim of a purchase. Next Time (I know it will happen again I'm a whim kind of guy) I won't wait 6 months searching and calling. I'll list it on USHIP with a photo. Thank you uship and Glenn Olney.
