My wife was a piano major in college, so ever since we were married and moved to Southern California last year we've been looking for a piano. A few weeks ago, my grandmother who lives in Northern California offered us her baby grand piano.
We were thrilled. We have a Jeep Grand Charokee, so our first though was that we'd drive up, rent a uhaul, and get a local piano mover up there to load up the piano for us. Once we'd figured out the price of trailer rental, gas (for a jeep that, on a good day with a tailwind and no trailer tops out at 17mpg), and the piano mover's fee, we were up to nearly $800 to do it ourself.
I stumbled across uship and decided to try for some bids. I was thrilled when MountainTransport's came in at $300 less than it would have cost to move it ourselves. I was a little nervous trusting a piano to someone I'd only contacted over the internet, but he had plenty of excellent feedback, so I accepted the bid.
After he picked up the piano in Northern California, my grandparents called and told me how friendly, professional, and nice the shipper was.
The piano was delivered to us early, and while I didn't get a chance to meet the shipper, my wife was very happy with how friendly and professional he was.
I had an excellent experience with uShip and MountainTransport, and I'd be thrilled to do it again.
