My family was planning a move from Arkansas to Pennsylvania, but we had no way to bring my two horses along. The situation was complicated further by my desire to move the pony with us to PA, but send my little Quarter Horse to Ohio, where I'd be attending college. I had had some difficulty finding a boarding stable near the college, and by the time I knew WHERE I could keep him, it was less than three weeks till moving day, and I still hadn't any way to move the horses. I was afraid I'd have to leave them with a friend for who-knew-how long.
We were told about uShip, and we created an account and posted our bid here. Our moving deadline was closing fast, and I honestly wasn't very hopeful of finding anyone who could take Raven and Kili within the timeframe we had. But... *cue dramatic music!* S&E Transport did make a bid, one that was WAY below the $1000+ dollar mark I'd been expecting. They were very fast, friendly communicators (a lot of times I'd ask them a question late at night, and have a reply when I'd check the e-mail first thing in the morning).
As it turned out, we had to leave the horses with a friend, but only for a week or so. I was worried that S&E wouldn't like the altered pick-up address, but they didn't mind at all.
I called them once after they'd picked up the horses, and they were exceedingly reassuring, describing Raven and Kili's behavior for me. I couldn't help laughing at the story they told me of Kili's refusing to eat the carrots offered him (which was very accurate, he REFUSES to eat carrots under any circumstances).
I wasn't able to be in Ohio for Kili's delivery, but the great people from S&E were here with my pony a full day earlier than I'd expected.
Raven is a nervous shipper, usually soaking with nervous sweat after only a short time. But when she was unloaded, she was cool and dry, without a bite mark or scrape on her.
It was a great first-time experience for us, and I am VERY happy with both uShip and S&E.
