I work at a place called Centennial Farm which is located on the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, CA. We are an educational facility that is available to the public and it is a place where they can learn about the importance of agriculture. Having livestock animals is an important part of our exhibit so that we may teach people that they are also a source of food & fiber. Oxen are especially important since they helped settlers travel across the Oregon Trails into California. In trying to keep the spirit of history alive, our search for an oxen team led us to the beautiful state of New Hampshire where many well-trained teams live. Once we purchased the animals, it took us a few weeks to find a suitable transport company that would give us a reasonable price as well since we are a non-profit entity. Our search led us to the U-ship website. This website was a very helpful and user friendly tool for us and prices were at least 50% less than private transport companies. Through U-ship, we were able to match up with Kevin Medford (J K M Enterprises) who had positive feedback listed and he offered a very fair price. It turned out to be a great match as Kevin treated our animals with great care throughout the long journey. The animals had never travelled for such a great distance, so we were naturally worried that they would not do well on the trip. But, there was nothing to worry about as the animals were well taken care of with Kevin. When they arrived at our Farm, it was apparent that Kevin even bonded with our animals as he shared stories of their personalities and mischeif throughout their travels together. We are all very happy that the animals and Kevin arrived safely to our Farm and we look forward to presenting them to the public! We thank U-ship and Kevin for playing an important role in getting our special package from New Hampshire to California!
