I recently (spring 2007) constructed a Party-Deck, which is essentially a giant raft for the purposes of relaxing, fishing, swimming etc on our lake-front property in the Ozarks. It turned out to be a bit heavier than I expected (8000 pounds including trailer) so I decided to have it shipped the 1360 miles from Tucson AZ to save the wear and tear on my vehicle and the time-off from work.
I searched the net and found the uShip site - never even knew such a service existed. I listed my load and within days received several bids. After reviewing each bidder's feedback and comparing prices, I settled on a gentleman who goes by "Old Tax Man Dan".
His price was not only very reasonable ($1110.00) but several hundred dollars less than his competitors. I calculated it would have cost me $800 in fuel alone to do the haul myself so for an extra $400 it was clearly a "no brainer".
Besides just the great price though was all the positive feedback Dan had accumulated. I felt that this was the most critical aspect in choosing the right shipper since I was trusting a complete stranger with my precious cargo. Well, Dan certainly lived up to all the positive feed-back. He replied promptly every time I had a question for him and he deliverd the load without any problems. Dan is just an all-around great guy to work with.
I'll conclude by saying that the entire uShip experience was quick and easy and I highly recommend Old Tax Man Dan.
