I bought a used racing kart in Phoenix. Problem, I live in Dallas @ 1200 miles away. The kart included a flat bed trailer, tools, racing gear and spare tires. I weighed several options on getting the kart from AZ to TX including: Driving myself (2400 miles, 2 hotel nights ($160), Fuel ($250), food ($50)) plus my personal time with my wife and kids (priceless). I thought about flying and renting a Uhaul, Budget, Penske Truck (minimum cost $650+ fuel $125+food $25+airfare $100+16 hours drive time). The third option was to hire a shipping company. They wanted it crated, fuel drained, battery removed,+$1200 for a total cost of @$1800 plus a 3 week window to ship it. Finally, I heard about Uship but was very reluctant since it is non traditional shipping but out of frustration I felt it was worth a shot. The process of creating a user ID and posting my listing was very simple and quick. I even posted a few photos and went into great detail of what I needed and what it was that was to be shipped. I put in what I thought was a low MAX Bid @ $500. Within 30 minutes I already had someone willing to handle my shipment but the time frame was a few weeks out. Within two hours I had another but he was going to pull the trailer versus trailer it. Overnight I had Ken and Lynn Jolley send me a communication that they would be interested in handling my shipment and would be able to bid in a day or two. They had great feedback and responded to my questions and concerns about security etc. Their bid came in $50 less than my max bid which was literally hundreds cheaper than any of the other shipping alternatives I was considering. Tonight (48 hours) after picking up my shipment in Scottsdale Ken delivered my kart and trailer and 10 boxes of kart racing supplies to my garage all without me having to be there. Lynn communicated with us the whole time. I absolutelly love the fact that this service saved me time, money, stress, danger, wear and tear, family time and allowed me to not interupt my work schedule. I have already suggested this site to friends and will never be reluctant to pick up a good deal even if it's several states away. This is a win:win situation for both shippers and those of us with unusual shipping needs.
