shipping from New Castle, Delaware Callander, Ontario, Canada for $1,336.48
I had an M105A2 1.5ton military cargo trailer to be picked up in Delaware and taken to Northern Ontario.
Although the pick-up had been coordinated in advance between the pick-up site and the driver for 28 November, no one seemed to notice that this would be the US Thanksgiving and a day off in most locations.
Driver made a confirmatory call on 27 November and was told the site would be closed on the date agreed for pick up. Driver was half-way to Delaware.
Driver used on-line data link to find a towing company near the pick up site, then hired them to inspect and pick up the trailer. They would then store the trailer in their own compound for pick up later that same evening.
Concurrently, I was then contacted to provide the tow company the written authority needed to pick up the trailer.
The trailer was picked up & stored. My driver made the pick-up later that evening and transported the trailer to my address the next day.
Coordination of pick-up was to have been made between site manager and driver. That said, however, it was still gratifying to note that the driver took it upon himself to pay the additional costs of the tow-truck remedy and not pass the costs on to me. There is a word for that "Integrity".
