It was time for a couch and overstuffed chair to make their way to another sister. This furniture was our grandparents and has lived many different upholstered lives- in any incarnation- it shows up every year in Christmas photos: from my mothers childhood to eventually her grandsons'. I live in Seattle and I needed to get the items down to San Diego with about 10 days notice. I was new to USHIP and did not know what to expect. I posted photos, which I think helped (as I was not good at guessing how much these things weigh). I got two bids, the one I chose was Mike of Mountain Transport - he was half the price of the other one. At first he said he wouldn't be able to come out to the island we live on and I was going to have to rent a truck and take the ferry over to Seattle side to meet him. But after I accepted the bid, he had another few shipments to pick up closer to us, so he came on over. It had to be at 6am so that my husband could help him navigate this big furniture down some tight stairs, but he had no problem with that. Off it went. On my sister's end, it was very smooth (no stairs) but he also had to work his schedule around hers (she's a teacher) and was very willing to do so. He took a personal check for payment which was also unusual I think. Overall, Mtn. Transport made me feel like an important customer even though it was only a couple of items. I think he does this route (seattle - san diego) fairly often, so I will certainly use him again if needed.
great experience. I hope all the shippers at USHIP are of this quality.
