I needed to get furniture and important items from my parents' house after my mother's death. The problem was that I live in Houston, TX and my parents live in Mesa, AZ. Several times I planned to fly out and rent a truck to drive the items the 1,100 miles or so back to Houston. But the thought of doing that was unappealing and expensive. Finally I turned to the Internet to see about having someone move everything long distance for me. UShip was one of the first sites I looked at. It seemed so easy to use so I listed my shipment and within a couple of hours I had two offers. The problem was they were ready to pick up way before I was ready. My dad was traveling and couldn't get home in time. I pulled the listing until everyone was ready on both ends. After the holidays I reposted the listing (this time with exact measurements and # of boxes and furniture pieces) and had MountainTransport set up within a day or two. Mike delivered when he said he would and even made a second drop off when I realized that one of my boxes was left on his truck. Our fault, not his. At the last minute my Dad had added a box of citrus from his backyard but it didn't get added to the list of boxes so when Mike delivered and we counted boxes everything added up. A few days later I noticed that my Mother's most treasured items were missing and it was then that I realized the box didn't get unloaded. I called Mike and he answered immediately. He went out to his truck and my most important box was safely tucked in the back. He came back through Houston a few days later and delivered the box. I saved 50% in actual dollars. I saved probably 2-3 days of flying and driving. Finally, I couldn't have moved the furniture anyway because it was too heavy. :) A great experience all the way around. Now I tell everyone about UShip.
