It was a happy Google evening when I happened upon uShip while needing to ship a huge desk from Denver to Orange County in Southern California.
I had imagined the trip. Rent truck at some rip-off mileage rate; drive up and over the Rockies in raging blizzards; crash out in some cheap motel then pick up solid mahogany partner's desk the next morning. The drive back would be no less hazardous and the shipping would eventually cost more than the desk was worth!
Enter uShip. As a 'newbie' it was a little confusing, but I hung on in there. This is the thing -- the site advised me what it would normally cost to ship my goods, and that almost scared me off. But I found I could enter my own GUESS, just to see if anyone would nibble at the bait. And they did. Several. After a flurry of text messages, a few clicks on the uShip site and some breathless, exciting moments of waiting - the bidders sorted themselves out, I checked out their background on the uShip site and made my choice.
In retrospect it was easy. But let me tell you - if you are not sure how to go about getting shipping jobs done - this is the way to go. AND - it was fun!!
