About a year ago, my Wife and I decided that running a concession business might provide some good extra income during our retirement. I retired from The Boeing Company about 2 years ago, and have since been doing some contract Engineering on a full time basis. Hopefully we can now slow down a bit and go out about 15 - 20 times a year and run our concession trailer. After ordering our trailer, we had thought that we would just go down to Miami and pick it up. After estimating the expenses (Gas, Hotels, Meals, lost wages, etc....) I started looking for an alternate source for the shipment. I had never heard of Uship before, but I did request a bid from another provider, but it turned out that they only did shipping in a 4 state area (South West US). They did sugest that I post the shipment on Uship, which I did. That was the best decision I had made in quite some time. The bids started coming in (all of them were very reasonable). After reading about all of the different providers in their profile, I selected "The Transporters". One of the things that impressed me about them was that they were rated #7 out of ~160,000 providers, and had outstanding reviews from past customers. All in all, by going through Uship I saved about $1,000 and a week of driving. Thanks for all of the good advice from several of the shippers and especially Alex (The Transporters) for holding my hand and leading me through the process.
