I decided to buy "Cowboy" after finding him and choosing him from hundreds of colts on the internet. I wanted a colt to help motivate me to get out of the house and get moving after knee replacement surgery and I hadn't had a young horse since 2004. Our family has owned AQHA horses for 36 years and we are always involved with 4-H and local riding clubs. We show in breed shows as well as open shows and 4-H shows. Some members of our 4-H club had purchased registered paint horses and wanted my daughter and I to join them showing paints. Thus, the added fuel to buy a paint. Since I couldn't ride I thought I could work with a colt with my daughter's help and we could get him started in halter and showmanship. I was so excited about the prospect of having a young paint to show. I found Cowboy in MN which is @1200 miles away from where we live in NC and didn't know about the long journey of getting him home. He had never ridden in a trailer before and hadn't been handled much. I found one shipper on UShip but they had to cancel after I had paid all the fees. The load they had planned just didn't work out so I advertised again on UShip. Quickly I found another trucker and made arrangements for the colt to be shipped. My money from the first booking was quickly refunded and the fees for the second company were paid. Cowboy was delivered right when I had hoped he would arrive and he is a delight. He did well on his trip and the trucker took good care of him. Tom communicated along the way and I had his cell so I could call him anytime. I would use UShip again if I needed a horse trucked and I would ask Tom first. This was a good experience. Now we'll see if Cowboy wants to get on the trailer again five days after he got off.
