"Great experience moving my one-bedroom apartment."
shipping from Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania Middletown, Connecticut for $2,150.00
The experience that I had with the bid that I accepted was very positive. Maxon Movers provided a fair price. The price quoted was the price paid. There were no added expenses.
Maxon Movers are registered with the better business bureau, which is important to me.
I asked many questions in advance before accepting the bid. The movers advised me to cover the carpets with some kind of plastic wrap from Home Depot, which was a very useful suggestion. Maxon Movers arrived on time (actually early) and worked VERY hard from 9 a.m. until 1:00 a.m. They were very respectful of me and very considerate in general. They were VERY careful with my things from a 10 x 20 ft storage unit in the Philadelphia area to a 2-bedroom apartment in a Connecticut house. Maxon Movers managed to get my oversized furniture into a second floor apartment and third floor attic around very tight angles with steep stairs. My 3-drawer file cabinet weighed a ton because it was completely filled and the movers carried it with a lot of sweat up all the stairs (and they did not even make me empty the drawers!)
Maxon Movers were much better than those big national companies. Maxon Movers were the best movers I have ever used. They put up with my obsessive questions. I would highly recommend Maxon Movers.
I was afraid to use UShip. It is quite unsettling to book a big move sight unseen. Some of the other bids were clearly from unreliable sources. Some bids were from providers who had terrible comments---for example, that they never showed up for a job. I was scared when one provider’s bid was withdrawn after only 24 hours, and then submitted again after 2 days at an extremely low price. I guess I did not read the fine print but I did not expect UShip’s surcharge of around $30.
