I have posted shipping jobs on U-Ship three times in two years and have been please with the outcome each time. Two shipments involved pets, and the third involved boxes that needed to be moved between households.
Interestingly, I first learned about U-Ship when I needed to ship my dog between two southern states during hot weather. As you may khow, the airlines embargo carrying live cargo in the hold during the hottest times of the year. I was reading the web site of a major airline, which mentioned U-ship as an alternative to shipping animals by air.
The three shippers with whom I dealt were all fair and went out of their way to help me. I would advise those who are thinking of shipping to be as flexible as possible about the arrangements when this is feasible.
Also, if you are under a deadline, contact shippers who are based near you, and who appear to operate in the areas where your cargo needs to travel, and ask them to submit a bid.
Sadly, I have heard stories about shippers who are not treated well, who don't get paid, or some such mistreatment, after they have completed the job. This is unconscionable, and there should be ways for a shipper to recoup losses when this happens.
Treat people well, and good will come back to you.
